Crafting a Modern brand Identity and Google Local Strategy for a New Upscale Greek Restaurant Launch

Partnered with Mykonos Kouzina, a new upscale greek food eatery that was launching it’s 1st location in Norwalk, CT. We created a new visual brand identity, a responsive website, photography, content development, and Google local SEO solutions that resulted in a successful launch with 20,000 page views in the first month after opening and fully booked reservations.

Vab Media Digital Agency had previously done a website rebranding for a pizzeria in downtown Stamford CT, called Pappas Pizza, and the owners told us that they were launching a new authentic greek restaurant in a town called Norwalk, which is part of Fairfield County Connecticut.

And since we have experience helping local businesses in a variety of industries to develop responsive modern websites, designed to build brand awareness and increase their web presence, conversions and sales, we were up for the challenge. We help brands adapt and thrive.

Harry Zopounidis saw a market opportunity to launch an upscale authentic Greek seafood restaurant experience in the urban city of Norwalk, CT.  

It’s location is bordered by the very affluent communities of Westport, Wilton, New Canaan, and Darien (which is the target demographic customer.) Mykonos Kouzina is comprised of kind and talented operators with a simple focus on creating a consumer-centric dining experience through unmatched hospitality and high-quality food.

Through research and exploration of evaluating other upscale Greek and Mediterranean restaurants in NYC and in Mykonos Greek islands, we came up with a brand strategy that highlights the restaurant’s exceptional food and ambiance while giving a frictionless user experience across the digital and physical space of this high-end restaurant.

Dining theme escapism. This was the overarching theme during Vab Media’s collaboration with Mykonos Kouina. We kicked off our first strategy meeting to define their service offerings, and discuss keyword and competitor research, taglines, graphic design elements, brand positioning, and ways to enhance their presence on Google my business. In the first meeting with the owners, we discussed and looked at some of the well-known authentic Greek restaurants (limani, Meraki, Thalassa etc) located in NYC, as well as in Mykonos, Greece and they gave their input into what they liked from a design and visual perspective and that was helpful.

We discussed the website’s design and wanted to showcase Mykonos Kouzina’s unique value propositions (fresh authentic greek cuisine, 5-star service, and a fun trendy atmosphere) and deliver frictionless customer experiences.  In order to support the visual brand narrative and messaging Identity, for Mykonos Kouzina, we choose to design the website in a WordPress CMS  using an advanced drag-and-drop editor tool called Elementor pro, (that has 300+ Designer Made Templates, mobile responsive editing, animation features and 90+ widgets) to set up columns, buttons, and other design elements that would allow us to highlight and break up the content in a user-friendly way. 

We approached this as we do with other website redesign projects, by adding search-optimized headings, and high-quality image assets, and presenting the content in more readable formats that make sense to site visitors,  We are grateful to the owner Sia, who took charge of managing the project, and was providing content edits, and timely feedback.

Google Local Business Profile Optimization Matters

In 2022 and beyond any effective marketing campaign, whether it utilizes SEO or Facebook Ads, requires strong content as a foundation. We setup and optimized the Google local business profile to rank for Greek related food searches near Norwalk, which is really crucial since “54% of their traffic is mobile” of people searching for places to eat using a smart device. 

We collaborated with Harry and Sia to develop new strategic content that would showcase the quality of their food, and offerings and increase search rankings, build brand awareness and attract top-of-funnel visitors looking for Greek food cuisine restaurants. Their website is now ranking in 3rd position on the first page of Google’s organic local results for “Greek restaurant Norwalk CT“, “Greek seafood restaurant Norwalk CT” to name a few.  Check out the website here.

Over 20,000 Total Views On Google Local Per Month since Launching the website

Also branded searches of users looking for “Mykonos Kouzina Norwalk” specifically is up by 45% since the site went live in August 2022.  Driving directions requests to the restaurant have been doubled on a monthly basis, since launching from 242 to 480. 

Increased Calls and Reservation Bookings by over 600 %

Since the restaurant launched and started serving customers in August of 2022, the number of calls and phone reservations has increased from 56 (per month) to over 380 (per month) which is over 600% increase. The restaurant is consistently reaching new diners and booking full reservations each night since the food and atmosphere have have customers leaving positive reviews.
